Almost 2000 years ago, a small group of men and women gathered in a room in Jerusalem as the risen Christ had instructed them to celebrate the Festival of Reaping Exodus 23:16 Christians call it Pentecost. Before the outpouring of the Holy Spirit, Pentecost was the celebration of the Harvest it was a Party! And who doesn’t love a party? When the Holy Spirit was poured out on those men and women in the upper room, it ignited a wildfire celebration that has continued over the centuries. And many great revival movements have come with the stirring of the Holy Spirit over the years each one better than the first. The Holy Spirits fire is that which brings the party home and the harvest in.
Revival rain has been that which has changed the world. The out pouring of the Holy Spirit was not just a onetime thing. The Holy Spirit has always effected the greatest movements in the Church. And where God’s Spirit was given liberty, it always resulted in history’s greatest social reforms. Revival Rain was not just in Acts 2 but the Great Reformation of the 17th Century, the Great Awakenings of the 18th, 19th and 20th Centuries. Because men and women like Martin Luther, John and Charles Wesley, Barton Stone, Alexander Campbell, Dwight L. Moody, William Booth and Catherine Booth (founders of the Salvation Army), Charles Spurgeon, Mariah Woodworth Etter, Kathryn Kuhlman, Billy Graham just to name a few were willing to let the Holy Spirit move.
If ever there was a time that our world needed reformation is it not now? The days of Church as usual are not working!!! When I look at the news and I see acts of cruelty and murder I weep. People are desperately looking for revival. They are trying to find it anyplace they can and even in places they should not. Jesus said seek and you will find. I say it is time to seek the Latter Rain Revival. It is time to throw the biggest Harvest Party the World has ever seen and the Holy Spirit shall be the guest of honor. This latter rain revival, this Pentecostal Harvest Celebration shall out do them all. Today let us seek; today let us pray for the renewing of our passion for more power and a greater outpouring of the Holy Spirit. Let the Rain Fall Down!
